Gratitude Unlocks Freedom

Last week, we discussed how a heart posture of gratitude creates a mindset of abundance. This week, I want to tell you about the freedom that follows gratitude.

Gratitude is thanking God for something, whether it's something you asked for or not, something you wanted or not, or something you expected or not.

It's thanking Him for your home (even when it's messy).

It's thanking Him for having gas in your car (even when you hit every red light in town).

It's thanking Him for open doors (and closed doors).

It's thanking Him day in, day out, day in, day out.

When I started my gratitude journal, not only did I find more things to be grateful for, I also felt lighter. I no longer spent my time in the heaviness of worry because I knew that I would always have more to be thankful for every day. The heart posture of gratitude created a mindset of abundance that resulted in a lifestyle of freedom.

Do you know that you were meant to live in freedom? When we don't understand our identities, we aren't walking in the fullness of the freedom our Father has given us. Instead, we are controlled by a mindset of lack. We become blind to our blessings. But when we know who we are and Who's we are, we can see the full spectrum of all that God intended for us.

This is a freedom we only experience when we know Jesus; when we know that He died so that we could live. It's only through a relationship with Jesus that we can walk in the freedom and abundance we were always meant to walk in. We are children of the King... and because of that, we have freedom. Yes, even you.

Today, sit with Him and let Him show you your inheritance of freedom. Let Him show you all that you have to be grateful for. In the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, He is always good.

xoxo, Erin

And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let you roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
